“Where is God?” “How will I get through this? “What happens now?” Questions like these often arise in the thoughts of people dealing with grief and loss.
But the Bible is a shining light even in your darkest days. Read or listen to these inspiring Bible verses about comfort in death that will give you peace and hope.

1. This too shall pass.
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” (Revelation 21:4)
2. God Himself will bring you through this.
“Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder.” (Psalms 107:13 – 107:14)
3. God is closer than close.
“The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.” (Psalms 34:18)
4. This dark place in life right now is no match for a mighty God.
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” (Psalms 23:4)
5. God restores.
“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.” (Psalms 147:3)
6. God is with you, your personal source of strength and courage.
“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” (Psalms 147:3)
7. “Trust me, I got this.” ~Love God.
“He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.” (Isaiah 25:8)
8. Ultimately, God is working things out in your favor.
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
9. He’s near to wipe every tear.
“Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.” (Matthew 5:4)
10. The comforted shall become a comforter.
“Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.” (2 Corinthians 1:3 – 1:4)
11. Lean on God, He will hold you up.
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” (Isaiah 41:10)
12. This is not the end for God’s sleeping children.
“But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.” (1 Thessalonians 4:13 – 4:14)
13. The dead in Christ shall rise again- in perfection.
“In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed… So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.” (1 Thessalonians 4:13 – 4:14)
